Priming Sugar

Priming Sugar. (pray'-ming shu'-ger)

Corn or cane sugar added in small amounts to bulk beer prior to racking or to each bottle prior to capping to indroduce a new fermentation in the bottle and thus create carbonation. Homebrewers use about 3/4 to 1 cup of sugar per 5 gallon batch of beer.
